Booking Terms

Separate Areas

The 4-pitch Lazy Duck Camping Ground, the Lazy Duck Hostel, The Woodman’s Hut and The Duck’s Nest are quite separate from each other and are all designed to accommodate small numbers.  Combined bookings for more than on accommodation therefore cannot be accepted, very sorry.

Tent Sizes & Pitches

We provide space for four lightweight 1, 2 or 3 person tents only, with a reserve pitch for anyone who arrives ‘off the road’ either cycling or on foot.  If in error you arrive with a tent larger than 3 man you may find we cannot accommodate you.

If you have to leave early, with regret we are unable to offer a refund. This is because we are very small and others will have been turned away to ensure you could have the nights you asked for.

Considerate Camping

The Lazy Duck is a peaceful place. Please be mindful of this when you are enjoying the swings and hammock and around the chimenea fires. For everybody’s benefit we ask for a respectful quiet period please between 11pm and 8am. Be assured, Lazy Duck is a non-smoking environment, including out of doors, and including e-cigarettes.

Visitors & Dogs

We can sometimes welcome extra visitors not registered with us. Please ask us first in case extra numbers would pose problems for resident guests. Unfortunately, with sheep, hens and wandering waterfowl we are unable to welcome even the most obedient of dogs to the camping ground.

Safety & Ducks

We ask that lit chimeneas and cooking stoves are never left unattended. Please don’t approach the pond or wander amongst the ducks, but do watch them from the Welcoming Seat overlooking the water and please take full responsibility for your own children anywhere in the grounds. Thank you.  Children are welcome to ask if they can help at morning duck feeding time, – Mum and Dad bring the camera!

Green Practices

You will find recycling arrangements clearly marked for all separated waste materials. If in any doubt please ask us. We ask that protective slates are used beneath all cooking stoves and hot pots to avoid any burn marks on the grass. If you bring a portable BBQ please show it to us before lighting and if necessary we can give you everything needed to save you accidentally burning the grass underneath. Vehicles may not be taken on to the camping ground at any time during your stay. The distance to walk from the car park is very short. For stays of more than 3 nights we ask that you re-pitch so that the ground will remain green and fresh

On Arrival

Earliest check in is 4pm. Latest is 9pm. Please give us a call on +44 (0)1479 821 092 when you are around 30 minutes away so we can be sure to be on hand to welcome you – and to have your wood stove on where applicable! Checkout is any time up to 10am on day of departure.

Arriving Late

If you are going to arrive later than expected, please ring 01479 821092.

Sauna & Hot Tub

These facilities must be booked and paid for in advance on the day please. We need notice from mid morning for firing the hot tub, and from 1 hour in advance for the sauna, so please ask about these as early as possible. A minimum charge of £25 applies to the hot tub. Maximum occupancy is 6, and depending on uptake on the day costs can be shared on the basis of £7.50 per person for a 1 hour private session. A minimum charge of £7.50 applies to the use of the sauna. Maximum occupancy is 2 for which a 40 minute infra-red session with music costs £10.

On Departure

We ask that you please vacate your pitch by 10.30am on the day of departure to allow time for camping ground maintenance.  Please ring the bell before you leave so we can wish you safe journey.

Important – Please note

Please accept full responsibility for your own belongings whilst staying at The Lazy Duck. We don’t provide keys or lockers so feel free to ask us to safeguard valuables in the house or cottage when you go out, – or take them with you.
